The purpose of the Hibbing Nordic "Club Ski" program is to provide opportunities for area nordic skiers to to get together for one or more of the following reasons:

  1. Fun in Numbers - Many people find it more enjoyable to ski with others. Nordic skiing can be a very social activity. Plus, you'll meet others that share similar interests and attitudes. It's a great opportunity to meet people that can become life-time friends.
  2. A Good Workout - For those who recognize the unparalleled workout offered by Nordic Skiing, it can be very beneficial to ski with others. Find someone who skis at about your level or is a little stronger than you. Keeping pace with the group can really move your skiing along and motivate you to ski at a level that helps you improve your aerobic capacity and skill level. Of course, this is also fun! :)
  3. Skills Development - Improving your nordic skiing skills is rewarding at any level. By developing your skill level you are able to ski faster with less effort all with less chance of injury. Who wouldn't want that? Most of us are visual "learners". Learning these skills is much easier when you have skilled skiers who can offer explanations, demonstrations and feedback.

All skiers are welcome to participate, whether you're an absolute beginner or a seasoned nordic skier.

How to Participate

To participate, just show up and be ready to ski by 5:30pm any Wednesday evening. A Trail Pass is required. We meet at parking lot P1 (see the trail map) of the Carey Lake Ski Trail System. For those of you who are familiar with the trail system, this is the parking lot by the Black Forest Loop.

At this time, no agenda is announced in advance and will be decided upon dependent on who shows up and feedback from the group.

If you have questions about the "Club Ski" program, send an e-mail to the Club Ski Program Director.
