Hibbing Nordic Youth Ski Program 2011/2012

The Hibbing Parks and Recreation offers children between the ages of 5 and 12 and their parents the opportunity to learn, develop and enjoy cross country skiing skills together.

Who

Girls & Boys age 5 to 12. Moms and Dads encouraged to participate.

What

A great opportunity to enjoy our outdoor winter wonderland while learning the techniques and skills of cross country skiing.

When & Where

Ski days will be held on the following nine (9) Sundays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Carey Lake Ski Trails, Trail Head Number One (TH1):

• December 11
• December 18
• January 8
• January 15
• January 22
• January 29
• February 5
• February 12
• February 19

Why

To introduce cross country skiing as a family activity, a great lifetime sport and an outdoor adventure. Skiers will progress in the techniques of skiing each and every week. (Meets the Daily Requirement for exercise.)

Equipment Needed

• Skis
• Boots and,
• Poles

For Cost Savings, seasonal ski rentals are available at the Hibbing Parks and Recreation office.

Volunteers Needed

Knowledgeable and experienced skiers will coordinate all ski days. However, we will need additional volunteers to assist in skiing and development. If interested please call 362-5940. It is fun and easier than you think.

Cost

$25.00 Registration Fee. Trail Passes for 12 & under are free.

Special Event Day

Again, the Sons of Norway will sponsor the Barnelopet youth ski event. Stay tuned for details.
