2011 Barneloppet Kid's Nordic Ski Event

Attention all kids, ages five (5) to twelve (12), and their parents! Your are invited to participate in the 2010 Hibbing Nordic Barneloppet, a cross country ski event for youth and the entire family! Barneloppet is a noncompetitive ski event especially designed for children and modeled after similar ski events in Norway. The term "loppet" is used throughout the world as the term for a cross country ski event. Translated literally from Norwegian, the term "barne" means "child".

Registration Form

Every skier finishes a winner! Sons of Norway’s Barnelopet is open to boys and girls of all skill levels agest 5 to 12. It is an event where the whole family can get involved. Parents, grandparents and other spectators can line up at the finish banner to cheer the skiers on with cowbells and flags.

The Hibbing Nordic Barneloppet is a cooperative venture between the Midnatsolen Lodge #58 (Hibbing, MN), the Hibbing Parks and Recreation Department, and the Hibbing Nordic Ski Club.

Where

Age Divisions

There are four age divisions:

1. Ages 5–6
2. Ages 7–8
3. Ages 9–10
4. Ages 11–12

Start Time

1:00 p.m. Exact division start times will be announced the week of the festival.

Course

The Barneloppet will start at Trail Head Number One. Trail lengths to be announced.

Equipment

Skiers are to supply their own skis, boots and poles. There will be a limited supply for rent at the Hibbing Parks and Recreation.

Awards

All participants will receive Barneloppet Festival Medallions and Participation Bibs.

Barbeque

Barbeque & Refreshments to all participants.

Friday, February 11, 2010.

Note: The 2011 Barneloppet is limited to the first 50 entrants.

Fee

$10.00 Hibbing Parks and Recreation (HP&R) Youth Ski Program Members, $15.00 Non-Members.
(Fees are non-refundable)
